7½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners

As part of the Learning 2.0 course, I have just watched a presentation called 7½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners. I think that the easiest habit for me would be #2: accept responsibility for your own learning. When I am interested in a topic, I will often search out as much information about it as possible, in many different formats. The hardest habit would be #4: have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner. I am easily frustrated and discouraged by my own shortcomings, and I find it difficult to overcome this when faced with a challenge.

As a compulsive reader and "Googler", I feel that I have the aptitude to be a life-long learner, if I can overcome #4.

Here I am!

I have created this blog as part of an exercise for a Learning 2.0 course that I am taking through the Ottawa Public Library. So far, I have learned how to set up a Google account, and then used this account to set up my new blog on Blogger. I have blogged before, using Livejournal, but never very consistently. I'm hoping that this course will encourage me to become more aware of the importance of blogs and social networking sites in libraries today.
